The world and how we interact with each other has changed, but that doesn’t change who we are at Naborforce. From the outset, we were “Inspired by JOY” and our core mission continues to be to provide support and connections that enhance the lives of older adults and their family caregivers.
In mid-March we announced the decision to suspend in-person visits and limit our services to Virtual Visits and No-Contact Errands. We believe that was – and remains – the safest practice for our Clients and Nabors. Until testing is accurate, uniform and widely available and/or a vaccination has been developed, self-isolation is still recommended for the at-risk population.
Having said that, as communities begin to slowly reopen, we understand that there may be situations where Clients require support. Some may need help keeping their homes functional and safe; others may need to get to overdue medical appointments; some may be suffering from the lack of social interaction. In order to support those Clients, we are resuming in-person visits beginning June 1, but with heightened safety protocols. We are still fully committed to the safety of our entire community and as such are taking every reasonable precaution to limit the risk of community spread. Clients and Nabors are required to wear protective face coverings (now also mandated by the State); to employ CDC recommended hand washing and sanitizing protocols and to self-distance whenever practicable. Clients and Nabors are also required to complete self-assessments and disclose any risk factors such as elevated temperatures, symptoms, exposure, etc. More detailed information on our updated safety protocols can be found on our website under COVID-19 Safety.
- We will continue to offer Virtual Nabor Visits to clients – or anyone in the community. While it’s important for us to stay physically distant, we can still be socially connected. Older adults can sign up for friendly check-ins and chats with a Nabor. These calls break up long, lonely days and lift moods by helping isolated folks feel valued and connected. Nabors can even help set up and place on-line orders for groceries, prescriptions or restaurant deliveries for clients without access to (or experience with) internet. There is no charge for this service. To set up Virtual Nabor Visits, please call 844-MyNabor or (804) 500-6227.
- We will also continue to assist with errands and grocery shopping via no-contact, doorstep drop-offs. Errand requests may be booked online or by calling 844-MyNabor or (804)500-6227.
- We have also launched a community movement called the #kindnessgram with the goal of broadening our reach. The program provides a simple way for anyone to offer assistance to a home-bound or isolated neighbor. (Visit www.kindnessgram.org to download a #kindnessgram.)
Thank you for the privilege of serving our community. I feel confident that we can all come together and help each other stay connected, engaged and healthy.
