Our Nabors are typically empty nesters, retirees and other folks who love seniors and want to give back to the community while earning a little flexible income. They include men and women of all ages!
Frequently Asked Questions
How are Nabors vetted?
First and foremost, we look for people who have a true passion for supporting the older adults in our communities. All Nabors go through a 5-step application process before they’re invited to join the Naborhood. In addition, we perform in-depth background screens as well as driving record audits.
Are Nabors insured?
Absolutely, we are fully bonded and insured.
How do I sign up?
It is simple and flexible! You may sign yourself up online straight from the website or you may call our office and we can take care of set up. Either way, it only takes a few short minutes. In your profile section, you can set preferences and also provide notes that you would like all Nabors who visit you or your loved one to know (for example, maybe your mom is hard of hearing or has a cat that may try to run out the door.)
Can I include family members on my account?
Absolutely, when you sign up, just be sure to include them in your profile – or you can always add them later. You will be able to specify whether they are just an emergency contact or if you would like for them to receive communications regarding your visits, etc.
Can I sign up for my parents or another loved one on their behalf?
Of course. When you begin the signup process simply indicate that you are signing up for a loved one. You will be able to manage the account for them and can add other family members if you desire.
Do you require an in-person consultation to get started?
We do not! We can start as soon as same day if you need help that soon.
Do you require a contract or a minimum number of hours per week?
We do not have contracts or hourly minimums. Visits have a one-hour minimum charge, but after that, billing is prorated every 5 minutes, so you really only pay for what you need!
How do I book a Nabor?
You can book a Nabor through your Client Portal or by calling the office. When you book a visit, there is even a spot for notes about the visit in case there are any special things we should know. AND, did you know that you can update those notes at any time? If something changes or comes to mind, simply edit the Notes section.
How far in advance do I need to book a Nabor?
Most of our clients request visits from a few days ahead of time to as far out as a month (if they know they will have a need).
Can I make same day requests?
While we cannot guarantee that same day visit requests can be filled, we do our best — and have usually been able to meet those requests.
Do I get to interview/select my Nabor?
Part of the benefit of the on-demand nature of Naborforce is that you are not burdened with having to interview, negotiate terms with or screen your Nabor. You can simply book a Nabor and feel confident that a trustworthy, compassionate community member will show up to help you or your loved one in a respectful and joyful manner. All of our Nabors have been fully vetted and insured. We match Nabors based on a number of criteria including schedule availability, proximity, preferences and familiarity. To date, clients have been 100% satisfied with the Nabors that we have assigned. The desire for connection is strong and it is amazing how every single one of our Nabors find a way to connect with our clients.
Does the same Nabor visit me every time?
Often, but not always. Part of the beauty of Naborforce is that Nabors can set their own schedule and change it as often as they like, and it is one of the reasons we are able to attract such awesome people. If you know that you would like to have a set schedule of visits, we will match you with a Nabor that generally has that availability. To the extent they are not available on one of your preferred days (for example, your primary Nabor gets sick) there is always a bench of equally great Nabors to step in. We have found that Clients ultimately love having a backup and end up enjoying meeting other great people in the community. In addition, our system is set up so that you can “favorite” Nabors, meaning that if they are available, they will get matched for that visit.
Can I specify whether I want a male or female Nabor?
Of course, you can specify whether you have a preference for one or the other, or that you are comfortable with either. The majority of our Nabors are women, but we do have some great men as well. It is entirely up to you!
How will I know who is coming?
You will receive an email confirmation of your Nabor several days before your visit (generally 4 or 5 days before, or sooner for last minute requests). You can also always view requested visits, assigned Nabors as well as completed visits in the Client portal.
What if I have a Nabor that I really like, can I request them in the future?
While we are not set up to “request” a certain Nabor, our system does allow you to “favorite” a Nabor and in that case, if they are available, they will be matched to your visit request.
What if I have pets?
Pets are no problem at all, just let us know! Our Nabors love your furry friends, and often help with walking, feeding or even getting them to the vet. In the case we have a Nabor with allergies, we will make sure not to match them with you.
Can I cancel a visit?
Of course! It’s very easy – you can do it through your client portal or just give us a call and we will take care of it. We do ask that you provide 24 hours’ notice if possible, but we realize things come up, so we are willing to work with you.
What kinds of services do you provide?
We help active, independent older adults enjoy engaged and joyous aging and living. To that end, our Nabors are committed and eager to do anything within our scope that will help you stay independent, connected and happy. We provide light support around your home – things like preparing a meal; helping with laundry and changing linens; organizing and cleaning out; help with your smartphone or other technology – or simply hanging out and visiting. We also help with errands, either with you, or for you – things like grocery shopping; picking up prescriptions; or shopping for gifts. And if you desire, we can do these errands on a “no contact” basis. We also provide transportation – we can take you to medical appointments; trips to the salon; or even the “Sunday drive.”
It’s nearly impossible to list all of the things we do for our clients. We’ve helped clients repair a birdhouse, helped them block a knitted blanket; record memoirs; set up a meditation room – it really all depends on what brings joy to our clients.
Do you assist with personal care or activities of daily living?
Naborforce does not perform any personal care, including bathing, feeding, dressing and toileting.
Do you provide housekeeping services?
Our Nabors are here to help keep you living independently and safely in your home. We help with lots of small things around the house – things like cleaning up the kitchen after preparing a meal, laundry, organizing closets, sweeping the stoop, etc. We are not “housekeepers” in the sense that we are not hired purely to come and clean.
Do you provide handyman or yard services?
Our Nabors are happy to provide light, non-skilled help around your home for tasks that may be difficult or unsafe for you to do – things such as changing overhead lightbulbs, carrying items down from the attic, hauling the garbage receptacle to the curb, etc. While some of our Nabors may be quite handy, we do not provide any plumbing, carpentry or electrical services. And while we are happy to work alongside you in the garden and help with a few things outside, we do not provide landscaping or yard maintenance services.
Do you provide wheelchair accessible transportation?
Unfortunately, our Nabors do not have wheelchair accessible vans. For clients who may have a walker or folding transport wheelchair and can enter and exit the car with minimal assistance, we are happy to help.
Do you provide overnight visits?
Naborforce does not provide overnight visits. Should you need that level of support, we will be happy to refer you to an agency that might be able to help.
How do I pay for services?
Charges for services are securely charged to your credit card on file. Anytime your card is charged, you will receive a detailed billing statement via email. And of course, you can always view billing activity in your Client Portal.
Do you accept insurance?
Naborforce does not provide any medical services and does not accept medical insurance.
What areas does Naborforce serve?
Currently we serve Richmond, Charlottesville, and Virginia Beach, in Virginia; Bethesda, Maryland; and Atlanta, Georgia. If you would like to see us in your market, simply drop us a line at [email protected]
What are your hours of operation?
Our normal hours of operation are 8 am to 9 pm on weekdays and 9 am to 9 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. However, we understand that there may be circumstances where you may need a Nabor outside of our stated hours and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Are you open on holidays?
Yes, we are open every day. It may be a little bit tougher to find an available Nabor on certain holidays – in that case, we will do our best!
